1. Who We Are & Scope
Youniversal Learning ("Youniversal Learning," "we," "us," or "our") is a research-backed K-12 education company based in Michigan, United States. We provide social-emotional learning ("SEL") programs to schools and districts, including student assemblies, parent presentations, professional development, focus groups, mentoring and coaching, and a digital SEL video curriculum.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you:
- visit our website at youniversallearning.com (the "Site");
- contact us or request a demo, quote, or other information; and
- participate in or receive our programs and services (the "Services"), except where a separate written agreement with a school or district governs (see Sections 3 and 4).
By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide to us
- Contact and inquiry information. When you submit our demo request or contact form, we collect your name, role, email address, school or district, and any message you include. When you call, email, or text us, we collect the information you choose to share.
- Business relationship information. If your school or district engages us, we collect information needed to schedule, deliver, and invoice our Services — such as contact details for school staff, scheduling details, and billing information.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data. Like most websites, our hosting providers automatically log basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visit. We use this information for security, troubleshooting, and understanding aggregate Site usage — not to build advertising profiles.
Information we receive from schools
- Program and student information. Partner schools and districts may share limited student information (for example, rosters, group assignments, and attendance) so we can deliver mentoring and curriculum programs. This information is governed by our agreements with those schools and by Sections 3 and 4 below.
3. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Our Site is intended for adults — educators, school administrators, and parents/guardians. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information to us through the Site, please contact us at info@youniversallearning.com and we will promptly delete it.
Where our programs involve students under 13 (for example, mentoring groups or the digital curriculum), we collect and use student information only at the direction of, and under contract with, the student's school or district. In those cases, the school provides any required notices and obtains any required consents, and we rely on the school's authorization consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") guidance for operators working with schools. We use that information solely to provide the contracted educational services — never for marketing, advertising, or profiling students.
4. Student Records & FERPA
When we receive personally identifiable information from student education records maintained by a school or district, we handle it consistent with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ("FERPA") and applicable state student-privacy laws, including Michigan law. Specifically, we:
- act under the direct control of the school or district with respect to that information, consistent with FERPA's "school official" provisions where applicable;
- use student information only for the purposes authorized by the school or district — delivering programs, tracking attendance and participation, and reporting program impact;
- do not sell student information, use it for targeted advertising, or build profiles of students for any purpose other than the authorized educational purpose;
- limit access to staff who need it to deliver the Services, and require confidentiality obligations of them;
- return or delete student information as directed by the school or district or as provided in our agreement with them; and
- notify the school or district without unreasonable delay if we become aware of unauthorized access to student information.
Parents and guardians: requests to access, correct, or delete a student's education records should be directed to your school or district, which controls those records. We will support the school in fulfilling any such request.
5. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- respond to inquiries and demo requests and communicate with you;
- provide, schedule, administer, and improve our programs and Services;
- process invoices and payments with partner schools and districts;
- send service-related messages (confirmations, scheduling, reminders);
- with your consent or as otherwise permitted by law, send information about our programs that we think may interest you (you can opt out at any time);
- maintain the security and integrity of the Site and our systems; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
6. How We Share Information
We share personal information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. Vendors that help us operate — such as website hosting, form processing, email delivery, text-messaging, scheduling, and accounting/invoicing providers — receive information only as needed to perform their services for us and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- Partner schools and districts. We share program information (for example, attendance and participation summaries) with the school or district that engaged us.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of students, our staff, our partners, or others.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy's commitments (and, for student information, subject to our school agreements and applicable law).
7. Email, Phone & Text Communications
- Email. Marketing or informational emails from us include an unsubscribe link. Opting out of marketing does not stop transactional messages (for example, scheduling or billing) related to an active engagement.
- Text messages (SMS). If you provide a mobile number, we may text you about scheduling, programs, or your inquiry. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchasing any service. We do not share mobile numbers or SMS opt-in consent with third parties for their marketing.
- Phone. We may call you in response to your inquiry or in connection with an engagement.
8. Cookies & Third-Party Services
The Site is a simple informational website. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. The Site relies on a small number of third-party services that may process limited technical data when you use it:
- Hosting/CDN. Our hosting provider processes standard server logs (including IP addresses) to serve the Site securely.
- Fonts. The Site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address when your browser requests the font files.
- Form processing. Demo and contact form submissions are transmitted through a form-processing service to deliver your message to our inbox.
Your browser's "Do Not Track" settings do not change the Site's behavior, because we do not track visitors across third-party websites in the first place.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information — including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and role-limited access to student information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; if we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and/or the relevant school district as required by applicable law, including Michigan's Identity Theft Protection Act.
10. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy: inquiry information for as long as needed to respond and for reasonable follow-up; business records for the duration of the engagement plus any period required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes; and student information for the period specified in our agreement with the school or district, after which it is returned or deleted as directed.
11. Your Privacy Rights & Choices
You may:
- Access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you by contacting us (see Section 14). We will respond within a reasonable time and as required by applicable law.
- Opt out of marketing at any time via the unsubscribe link in our emails, by replying STOP to texts, or by contacting us.
- Ask questions or raise concerns about our privacy practices at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws (such as the right to know, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights). We honor valid requests as required by the laws that apply to you. Note that requests concerning student education records must be routed through the student's school or district (see Section 4).
12. Third-Party Links
The Site may link to third-party websites and social media platforms (for example, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any site you visit.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy. Changes affecting student information covered by a school agreement will not reduce protections without the school's consent.
